Degree Programmes Offered

The College offers under-graduate (B.F.Sc.) and post-graduate (M.F.Sc. and Ph.D.) degree programmes in Fisheries Science. Degree programmes are offered with credit based semester system. A common ICAR syllabus was adopted for the degree programmes. To obtain B.F.Sc. Degree, students have to complete eight semesters with minimum OGPA of 5.5/10. During the VII semester, students are given hands on practical training through Experiential Learning Programme in fish seed production and post harvest technology. The last semester is completely allotted for Fisheries Rural Work Experience with intensive practical training in various fields of Fisheries Science. During this semester, a study tour for 21 days is arranged covering major national fisheries institutes and related organizations/industries across the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala.

Since 2006, the College has started offering post-graduate degree (M.F.Sc.) in the three disciplines viz. Aquaculture, Fisheries Resource Management, and Post Harvest Technology. It includes three semesters for course work and the final semester for dissertation research. Once the thesis is submitted by the student, it is evaluated by an external examiner, and on his recommendation after viva-voce, degree is awarded. Similarly, Ph.D. degree programme has commenced from the academic year 2011-12 in the three disciplines viz. Aquaculture, Fisheries Resource Management, and Post Harvest Technology.  For M.F.Sc. and Ph.D. Degrees, students have to complete the programme with minimum OGPA of 6.5/10.
