Students Counseling & Placement Cell
The Student Counselling and Placement Cell (SCPC) of CoA, JAU, Junagadh, has been functioning since the establishment of the university in May 2004. The unit has a full-time convener, member secretary, and members of class II officers and above drawn from various disciplines to provide consensus and concrete guidance, ensuring the smooth flow of placement activities. The mission of SCPC is to equip and empower UG and PG students to acquire the requisite knowledge, skill sets, and professional training for advancing their career opportunities towards achieving 100 per cent placement of the interested students. Besides, the unit also liaises with several private and public sector units from time to time for the benefit of students. Along with maintaining the contact credentials of the graduates of the previous batches to reach out to them over email correspondence, SCPC also maintains official WhatsApp groups of the past and the final year batch of the current crop of students. Information regarding on-campus and off-campus job opportunities, higher education, and competitive examinations is provided to the students through these multiple channels, ensuring their maximum participation. The details of special lectures and training programs, along with the students’ contest opportunities at state and national levels, are shared timely.
As far as counselling is concerned, the role of all the members of SCPC extends beyond supporting the career and higher education aspirations of the students. Reference books are often suggested to advance their domain knowledge, general knowledge, current affairs, and personality traits. Many online and offline lectures with eminent speakers, career counsellors, and human resource development professionals are also arranged to guide the students for their higher study options in domestic as well as foreign varsities. Invited lectures on resume preparation, interview etiquette, entrepreneurship, and networking are conducted regularly. Special classes in zero hours and mock tests in online mode are also organized to enhance the competitive exam preparation of the aspirants. SCPC also hosts a library with a capacity of 300+ books to support the students in preparing for ICAR-JRF/SRF, ASRB-NET, UGC/NTA-NET, CSIR-NET, IELTS, TOEFL, and other public service examinations of the state and central governments.
Highlights of SCPC placements for AY 2022–23

As many as 18 corporate companies collaborated with SCPC during the placement window of this season, between January and August 2023, culminating in placement offers to 80 UG and PG students through on- and off-campus placement drives.

Prominent recruiters included Gharda Chemicals, Reliance Retail, PI Agro, Dhanuka, FMC, Indofil, Tata Rallis, Agrostar, GSFC, HDFC, Federal Bank, and ICICI.

Three students who graduated in AY 2022-23 have started their own business units.

Two students from the passing-out batch in AY 2022–23 have secured admissions into foreign universities, including the University of Manitoba, Canada.

In congruity with the emerging trend observed in the last few years, several students from the graduating in AY 2022–23, as well, have enrolled in national-level prestigious institutions like IIMs, ICAR-MANAGE, Hyderabad; IRMA, Anand; IIFM, Bhopal; CCS-NIAM, Jaipur; IARI-IIWBR, Karnal; and NMIMS, Indore.

As a testimony to the role of SCPC in enhancing competence, students have emerged as regional winners in the National Quiz Contest on Food Security Mission organized by CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, and at the XVI Agricultural Science Congress 2023 in Kochi.
